Whether you get cash back, a credit or nothing depends on who cancelled, when, and which fare you bought. Here is how each case works.

Help with your Expedian Holidays booking
Cancellation support for Expedian Holidays bookings
If you booked at least 7 days before departure and cancel within 24 hours, you get a full refund. If the airline cancels or significantly changes your flight and you do not accept the alternative, you get a refund. Otherwise your fare rules decide between a refund, a credit or no value. Call to cancel.
What you are entitled to
| Situation | What you get | How it is paid |
|---|---|---|

| The airline cancels your flight and you decline rebooking | Full refund of the unused ticket | Original form of payment; within 7 business days for cards |
| The airline significantly changes your flight and you decline | Full refund of the unused ticket | Original form of payment |
| You cancel a refundable fare | Refund, minus any penalty in the fare rules | Original form of payment |
| You cancel a non-refundable standard fare | Usually a future travel credit with the airline | Airline credit, subject to its expiry date |
| You cancel a basic economy fare | Usually no value, except refundable government taxes | Taxes refunded where applicable |
What counts as a significant change
Under the US DOT rule that took effect in 2024, a significant change includes a departure or arrival moved by 3 hours or more on a domestic flight or 6 hours or more on an international flight, a different departure or arrival airport, an added connection, a downgrade to a lower cabin, and changes that make the trip less accessible for a traveller with a disability.
Taxes you can get back on a non-refundable ticket
Some government taxes and fees are only owed if you fly. On an unused non-refundable ticket, those can often be refunded even when the fare cannot. We check this on every cancellation.
How a cancellation works with us
- 1Call with your booking reference. Cancel before departure: a no-show can forfeit the whole value of a non-refundable ticket.
- 2The advisor reads your fare's refund rules and tells you exactly what you will receive.
- 3You approve, and we cancel the ticket with the airline.
- 4You receive written confirmation showing the refund amount or credit and how it will be paid.
Important information
Cancellation Support: frequently asked questions
How long does a refund take?

Is there a fee to cancel?
No Expedian Holidays fee applies within the 24-hour window or when the airline cancels. Other cancellations follow our published service fee schedule, and you hear the amount first.
Can I get cash instead of a credit?

I booked directly with the airline. Can you cancel it?
No. Only the airline or the agency that issued the ticket can cancel it. Contact the airline directly.
