Help with your Expedian Holidays booking
Change or rebook a flight booked with Expedian Holidays
Call with your booking reference. The advisor checks whether your fare permits changes, whether the airline charges a change fee, and the fare difference on the new flights. You approve the total before the ticket is reissued.
What decides the cost of a change
Three things: the rules of the fare you bought, the price of the new flights compared with the old ones, and any service fee. The table shows the usual pattern. Your own ticket's rules always take priority, and we read them to you before quoting.
| Fare type | Changes allowed | Airline change fee | Fare difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic economy | Usually not, or only for a fee on some carriers | Varies | Not applicable when changes are not allowed |
| Standard economy on the largest US airlines | Yes | Usually none on US domestic and many international fares | You pay any increase |
| Premium economy, business, first | Yes | Usually none on flexible fares | You pay any increase |
| Discounted international fares (some carriers) | Yes, under the fare rules | Can apply | You pay any increase |
| Within 24 hours of booking (booked 7+ days out) | Cancel and rebook | None | New fare applies |
Expedian Holidays' post-ticketing service fee is listed in our published fee schedule and quoted before you approve the change. If the new flights are cheaper, the airline's rules decide whether the difference is refunded or held as a credit.
When the airline changes your flight
If the airline moves your departure or arrival by 3 hours or more on a domestic flight, or 6 hours or more on an international flight, that counts as a significant change under US DOT rules. So do a change of departure or arrival airport, an added connection, a downgrade to a lower cabin, or a connection at a different airport.
After a significant change you can accept the new schedule, ask us to find a better alternative under the airline's waiver, or decline and receive a refund to your original form of payment. Airlines must refund within 7 business days for card purchases.
Same-day changes and standby
Several US airlines let you switch to an earlier or later flight on the day of travel, sometimes free for elite members and for a fixed fee for others. Availability depends on the airline and fare. Call us or use the airline app on the day.
Name corrections
Tickets cannot be transferred to another person. Minor spelling corrections, such as one or two letters or a reversed first and last name, are usually allowed by the airline. A full name change is treated as a cancellation and a new booking. Send us a copy of the ID so the correction matches exactly.

Important information
Change or Rebook: frequently asked questions
Can I change just one leg of a round trip?
Usually yes. The fare is recalculated for the whole ticket, so changing the return can affect the price of the full itinerary. The advisor quotes the total for the new ticket.
My new flight is cheaper. Do I get money back?
It depends on the fare rules. Some airlines refund the difference, others issue a credit, and some keep it. We tell you which applies before you approve.
Can I change a basic economy ticket?
Most basic economy fares on US carriers cannot be changed. Some airlines allow changes for a fee. If yours does not, the 24-hour window or a cancellation for credit may be your options.
How long does a change take?
Most changes are completed during the call. Your updated itinerary and new ticket numbers arrive by email right after.
