How we book car rental

In short

Search your pick-up place and dates, then call . The advisor compares rates from the rental companies, tells you what the counter will add, and reserves the car while you are on the line.

What the advisor checks for you

  • The base rate for each car size, from economy to full-size SUV and minivan
  • Airport concession fees and local taxes that the counter adds to the rate
  • A young-driver surcharge if the main driver is 21 to 24
  • A one-way fee when you return the car somewhere else
  • Which damage waiver and liability options are optional, and what your own cover may already include

Why we book cars by phone

Rental rates and counter rules differ by location, driver age and dates, and the cheapest headline rate is often not the cheapest car once the extras are added. Talking it through takes a few minutes and you know the full picture before anything is reserved.

FAQ

Car rental: frequently asked questions

How old do I need to be to rent a car?

Most US locations rent to drivers aged 21 and over. Drivers aged 21 to 24 usually pay a young-driver surcharge, and some car classes are only open to drivers 25 and over. The advisor checks this for your location.

What do I need to bring to the counter?

A valid driving licence in the main driver's name and a credit card in that same name. Some locations also ask for proof of insurance or a return ticket.

Can I return the car to a different place?

Often, yes. A one-way rental usually carries a drop fee set by the rental company. The advisor quotes it before you decide.

Do I have to buy the insurance offered at the counter?

No. Damage waivers and extra liability cover are optional. Your own car insurance or your credit card may already cover a rental, so check before you travel.

Is anything charged when I search?

No. Searching only shows your trip details. Nothing is reserved or charged until you agree to a rate on the call.

Ready to book, or just have a question?

There is no charge to ask, and we will tell you when booking direct is cheaper.
