New Year flight deals: getting there, and the January low season

In short

For New Year's Eve trips, flying out on 30 or 31 December and back on 1 January is often cheaper than the 2 to 4 January rush. After the holidays, mid-January through February is one of the lowest-demand periods for US domestic and Europe travel. Call for a quote.

The January and February low season

After the first week of January, demand drops on most US domestic routes and on transatlantic flights. Europe's cities, ski resorts outside school holidays, and warm-weather escapes such as Mexico can all be lower-priced. Book once your dates are fixed, because sale fares for this period are often released in the autumn.

Popular New Year destinations from the US

  • New York, Las Vegas and Miami for domestic celebrations
  • London, Edinburgh, Paris and Reykjavík for Europe
  • Cancún and the Caribbean for warm weather
  • Sydney and Dubai for long-haul fireworks trips

Watch for

Hotel and event prices often spike more than airfare around New Year's Eve, so price the whole trip before committing. If flights are disrupted by weather, your DOT refund rights apply in the same way as any other date.

Prices move with live inventory. Airline pricing is dynamic, so a fare can change until a ticket is issued.
A service fee may apply. Where one applies it is part of the total you approve, and it is listed in our published fee schedule.
All charges are disclosed before payment. Nothing is added after you approve the total.
You can verify the booking with the airline. The record locator we give you is the airline's own and works on the airline's website.
We never ask for card details by email or text. Payment happens on a recorded call or on this site, nowhere else.
