Europe flight deals from the US
Fares to Europe are usually lowest from November to March outside the holidays, and in the shoulder months of April, May and October. Call with your dates; an advisor compares gateways and open-jaw options.
Ways to cut the transatlantic fare
- Choose the gateway. Fares into Dublin, Lisbon, Madrid or Reykjavík are sometimes lower than into London or Paris. You can continue on a short European flight or train.
- Fly open-jaw. Into one city and home from another, for example into Rome and home from Paris. Often similar in price to a round trip and saves backtracking.
- Use a stopover program. Icelandair and TAP Air Portugal offer stopovers in Reykjavík and Lisbon on transatlantic tickets at no extra airfare.
- Travel midweek. Tuesday and Wednesday departures are often cheaper.

Entry rules to check before you fly
US citizens need a passport valid for at least three months beyond their planned departure from the Schengen area. The EU's Entry/Exit System registers non-EU travellers at the border, and the ETIAS travel authorisation is due to follow; check the official EU website for its current start date. The UK requires an Electronic Travel Authorisation for US citizens.
Your rights on flights from Europe
