Flight Changes

Flight changes: new dates, times or routes

In short

If you booked with Expedian Holidays, call with your booking reference. Most changes are done during the call. If you booked directly with an airline, that airline must make the change. We can still price a new ticket for you.

Who can change your ticket

Only the airline or the agency that issued a ticket can change it. Check your confirmation email: if it came from Expedian Holidays, we can change it. If it came from an airline or another website, contact them.

Typical costs of a change

CostWhen it applies
Fare differenceWhenever the new flights cost more than the original fare
Airline change feeOn some international and discounted fares; usually not on standard economy with the largest US airlines
Expedian Holidays service feeAs published in our fee schedule, quoted before you approve
No costWithin 24 hours of booking (booked 7+ days out), or under an airline waiver after a schedule change

Airline waivers

When storms, strikes or air traffic problems are forecast, airlines often publish travel waivers that let you change dates without a fee or fare difference within set limits. We check for an active waiver on every change request.

Changes the airline makes

If the airline moves your flight significantly (3+ hours domestic, 6+ hours international, or a different airport, connection or cabin), you can accept, ask for a better alternative, or decline for a full refund.

Important information

Important information

This page covers Expedian Holidays bookings. If you booked directly with an airline or through another agency, that company holds your ticket and handles changes, cancellations and refunds on it. We can still price and book a new trip for you.
We are not an airline. Expedian Holidays does not own, operate or control flights. Every journey is carried out by the operating airline under its own conditions of carriage.
Prices move with live inventory. Airline pricing is dynamic, so a fare can change until a ticket is issued.
A service fee may apply. Where one applies it is part of the total you approve, and it is listed in our published fee schedule.
All charges are disclosed before payment. Nothing is added after you approve the total.
You can verify the booking with the airline. The record locator we give you is the airline's own and works on the airline's website.
We never ask for card details by email or text. Payment happens on a recorded call or on this site, nowhere else.
FAQ

Flight Changes: frequently asked questions

Can I change the destination?

Usually yes, on a changeable fare. The new route is repriced and you pay any difference.

Can I change a flight after check-in?

Often yes, but sooner is better. After the flight departs, an unused ticket may lose its value.
